Ex-NIMASA DG Loses Senatorial Bid
A former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration of Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Ade Dosunmu has failed in his bid to represent the Lagos Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly elections conducted last week.
Dosunmu who ran on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), lost to Senator Oluremi Tinubu who was re-elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a similar development, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on marine Transport, Hajia Zaynab Kure also lost her bid to return to the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Hajia Kure who has been in the Senate since 2007, lost to Gen. Garba Mohammed of the APC in what could be described as a landslide victory for the latter.
The APC flag bearer polled a total of 164, 250 votes to defeat Hajia Kure who scored 64, 107 votes only.
The breakdown of the votes according to the local governments is as follows: Bida APC 39,412 and PDP 8,249, Edati – APC 9,747 and PDP 8,191, Gbako- APC 14,980 and PDP 7,340, Katcha APC 14,501 and PDP 4,866, Mokwa APC 25,666 and PDP 8,359, Lavun- APC 21,254 and PDP 11,357.
Others are: Lapai- APC 23,188 and PDP – 8,263, Agaie – APC 15,408 and PDP- 7,482 .
However, other members of the commitee were returned elected.
