NPA BOSS Reiterates Need for Monitoring and Compliance
The Managing Director of Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) Mallam Habib Abdullahi reiterated that Monitoring and Compliance are critical, if efficiency of service was to be achieved in the ports.
Speaking at an event tagged Monitoring and Compliance. The experience of compliance with conclusion agreement eight years after, the MD said that “the task of monitoring and compliance is key to our organization because it is the vehicle that can enable the realization of the added value private operators can bring to our port facilities and operation, which can then translate for better service for our port users”
He further stated that ever though NPA was the “direct beneficiary in the partnership with the concessionaires, it also represent other institutional obligations as demanded by the concession agreement “
He however stated that the past eight years of port concessioning had not been all rosy and that there had been challenges too.
“Eight Years of concessioning the ports have been full of excitement and challenges. They have also been saddled with the responsibility of managing expectation of the concessionaires, other government agencies and port users.”
He continued “Like any evolution process, the experience of these eight years has recorded success as well as challenges?
