Customs Intercepts N81m Contraband In One Month At Western MarineNigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted various contraband goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N81 million within one month at the Western Marine command, Lagos State.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Compt. Binga Benjamin announced the seizure via a press release issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Tangwa.

The release said the items were intercepted at different places including Idiroko axis, Yekeme, and Badagry creeks within 30 days of his assumption of duty.

The seizures, he said included 800 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50kg each, 806 wraps of cannabis sativa, over 15,000 kegs of 30 litres each of petroleum motor spirit totally 450, 000 litres. The PMS, according to him, have been auctioned to the public and some security agencies.

He promised that more seizure will be made if the economic saboteurs continue in their illegal business assuring that whatever sophisticated method used by smugglers, customs will track them down.

However, he warned officers that the command under his watch will not condone any form of indiscipline, Comptroller Binga enjoined stakeholders to assist the command with useful information on any smuggling activities.
