WAPIC to Honour Achievers
The organizers of West African Industry Conference (WAPIC) is set to honour individuals and organizations that have contributed immensely to the development of the power sector in the West African region.
The event which is coming up on the 18th and 19th of November 2014 at Eko Hotels , Lagos, promises to showcase the enormous investment opportunities in the power sector in the region.
The Minister of Power Honourable Chinedu Nebo and the Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Holding Tony Elumelu will head up a high level delegation of speakers from government and the private sector, giving the more than 1000 power professionals the latest update on the Nigerian Power Industry’s privatization and other opportunities in the regional energy sphere.
Speaking about the award to be conferred on notable individuals and organizations, the Director of programmes Irene Ochem said “This is the West African utility industry celebrating it’s heroes and success stories. It is for the industry and by the industry. Together we are highlighting those companies and executives who have been responsible for pioneering new frontiers, pushing boundaries, for inspiring others and for achieving growth”
She continues; “the response from the industry has been overwhelming and each and every category is hotly contested. We have received dozens of entries. And what is gratifying is that the nominated companies and individuals have all made such important contributions to the power sector in the region .The judges have a tough job choosing the final winners. I do not envy them. Also tickets for the awards are becoming a hot commodity. I want to urge everyone who wants to join this glamorous event to book soonest”.
Some of the leading names in the power industry that have been nominated for awards includes; Geometric Power, Ugheli Power, Clarke Energy etc and the award categories ranges from Lifetime Achievement Award, Power Transaction of the year, to outstanding woman in power.
