Shippers’ Council Co-operative Society Elects New Executives,Adopts Electronic Voting
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council Multipurpose Staff Cooperative Society has elected new executive officers to run the affairs of the society for the next two (2) years. The election was held during the society’s 21st Annual General Meeting in Lagos recently.
The officers elected are Alh. Bashir Ambi Mohammed, – President; Mrs. Busayo Olaniyan, – Vice President; and Mr. Olaolu Adeyemi; Treasurer.
Others are Mrs. Veronica Duru, -General Secretary, Engr. Nwel Mangu Abershi; Assist. General Secretary, Mr. Matthew Oladunwo, Financial -Secretary and Mr. Chris Okon, Assist. – Financial Secretary.
The winners of Supervisory Committee include Mr. Odaba Emeka, Mr. John Boas Choji and Mrs. Edna Adeyemi.
The election was conducted through an electronic mechanism for officers in the six (6) geo-political zones, area offices across the country and Abuja Liaison on Wednesday.
Earlier in his address, the Director Finance and Administration of the Council, Alh. Bearable Sumaila, who was represented by the Assist. Director, Training, Mr. Ibrahim. Yunusa said the Management of the Council are always supporting the activities of the society and urged the co-operators to cast their votes peacefully.
He further enjoined the co-operators to embrace the existing improvements recorded so far by the society.
Sumaila also called on members of the society to support the past and the in-coming executives so as to meet the aspirations of the society.
Also speaking, the Director Lagos State Cooperative, Mrs Zulaikha Ibrahim, who was represented by Mr. Bakare Babajide .B. thanked the Management and Staff of the Council for giving the cooperative the conducive environment to operate and assured the Management and Staff of conducting free and fair election.
In his acceptance speech, the President elect, Alh. Bashir Ambi promised to discharge his assignment diligently and appealed for support from all members.
‘‘Election is over, I request that all should come together in order to move the society to a greater height. We are one family and so shall we continue to remain’’, Alh Ambi.
