Mr. Ubon Essien ended his Journey to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety(NIMASA) as the Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the Director –General, Dr. Bashir Jamoh last month, August, 2023. It was a journey that allegedly delayed the luck and favour of many media practitioners and public relations members of staff of NIMASA. On both sides, there were nagging complaints of misadvising and mismanaging the DG. Surprisingly too, a procurement staff of the agency voiced that no department was spared in the complaint spree against Ubon Essien over encroachment in the guise of serving the interest of the DG. He was a thorn inside the throat of many. Ubon, however, has said he worked directly with the DG and never usurped anybody’s authority and power but rather encouraged the workers to be nice to people. So, for many his exit is prayer answered. He is a good guy, though!
