Travesty Of Hope

Few days to the presidential elections, a chunk of the society has not been able to collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC). The inability of the people not have collected their PVCs is partly owned to the fact that some of the distributors of the card often frustrate the people who stand all the day long without hope of getting them.

In some places, it is alleged that some of the distributors make life a hell for the people as it has become a toll collection venture that people want to use to enrich themselves at the expense of others.

The frustration has made some decide against collecting it since they feel it is of no use order than to vote for the candidates vying for election. What this literally means is that the unpopular candidate may emerge a winner at the end of the day.

As worrisome as the development looks, the bickering going on in the country is another area of concern so that ugly history will not repeat itself.

In 1983, the political heat that led to the vendetta took a similar trend from the beginning and eventually escalated to an unimaginable height where lives and property were lost in quantum.

It is of so much concern now because of the insecurity in the country coupled with the tantrums among desperate politicians who vow to turn the country upside down if their persons do not win elections. In fact, it looks like the situation is a tall order for the government or it is a tool in the hands of the government to achieve its aim.

Anyway, things just have to be done right before the enemies of the country harp on the occasion to take over the sovereignty of the country as they have been trying to do in the South Eastern part of the country.
