Tanker Drivers’ Row Disrupts Fuel Supply To Lagos

Tanker Drivers’ Row Disrupts Fuel Supply To LagosThe dispute within the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has caused a hitch in the supply of petroleum products in the Lagos area, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has said.

The NNPC, in a statement signed by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, on Wednesday, noted that there was a leadership tussle between the Mobil branch and the national office of the PTD.

The corporation said its midstream subsidiary, the Pipeline and Products Marketing Company, had intervened in the matter, adding that normalcy would soon be restored.

It said there was sufficient stock of products in Lagos and across the country, and advised motorists not to resort to panic buying as the situation was under control.

The corporation reiterated its commitment to uninterrupted product supply to the general public in keeping with its mandate.

The National Chairman, PTD, Mr. Salimonu Oladiti, told our correspondent in a telephone interview, “We are on top of the matter. By tomorrow (Thursday), everything will be resolved.”

Oladiti declined to give further details about the crisis rocking the union, saying, “That is our in-house problem.”
