NSC To Hold Sensitization On Kaduna Inland Dry Port

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Transport and in collaboration with the Inland Container Nigeria Limited (ICNL) would hold a one-day sensitization programme for stakeholders in the maritime industry at Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna on February 19th, 2016.

The event specifically designed to enlighten stakeholders on the benefits of the Dry Port in Kaduna state and its environs and the seminar is titled “The Emergence of Inland Dry Port in Promoting International Trade and Enhancement of Hinterland Shipping’’.

The Minister of Transportation, Hon Rotimi Amaechi would be the Chief Host at the occasion while the Executive Governor of Kaduna State is the Special Guest of Honour in the conference which is expected to prepare stakeholders towards the successful take-off of the Inland Dry Port in Kaduna.

The seminar also promises to widen the horizon of shippers on effective utilization of the Dry port facility for import and export businesses as well as enhancing the export trade and other ancillary businesses within the environs.

The topics billed for presentation include; ‘‘The NSC as Economic (Port) Regulator and Promoters of Inland Dry Port/Truck Transit Parks in Nigeria’’, “The Imperative of Dry Port Operations in Nigeria:- Kaduna ICNL in Perceptive’’, ‘‘Compliance with Global Standard and Best Practices for an Enhanced International Trade’’, etc.

 It should also be recalled that the Federal Executive Council in 2016 granted approval for the establishment of six (6) ICDs/CFSs across the country in the following locations, Isiala-Ngwa (Aba), Erunmu (Ibadan), Zawachiki (Kano), Heipang (Jos) and CFS in Funtua (Katsina and Jauri Maiduguri.
