NPA, ICAN Partner On Capacity Building

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala- Usman has restated the commitment of the current management towards leaving a legacy of capacity building in the authority through strategic training of the personnel.

In this regards, she said NPA would strengthen her collaboration with professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to enhance the human resources value of the organization.

Bala-Usman, who stated this on Wednesday while receiving the President of ICAN, Alhaji Ismaila Mohammed Zakariin in her office in Lagos, vowed to continue to run NPA in line with the provisions of its Act of establishment and government policies.

According to the statement made available to MMS Plus by the Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Mr. Ibrahim Nasiru, Usman stated that the NPA administration would give priority to fresh ideas and suggestions that would in turn help improve efficiency in NPA being the gateway to the economy of the nation.

Earlier in his address, Alhaji  Zakari, charged the NPA boss to remain steadfast in the discharge of her duty, as the nation looks up to her and appreciate all she had done since her appointment as he also acknowledged her efforts in corruption fight.

Alhaji Zakari announced ICAN’s desire to strengthen her relationship with NPA since the Institute has a large number of her members in the organisation, adding that were  impressed with the managing director’s efforts in transforming the organization.

The ICAN 53rd president assured that members of the Institute in NPA would always be available to assist the management in achieving all set objectives.

“Our members are well trained on the need for confidentiality of reports and as such would help to further stabilize the organisation.” He said
