NEPC Inaugurates Anti–Corruption, Transparency Unit

The Executive Director/CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, Dr Ezra Yakusak has inaugurated an Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU)  to expose and expunge corrupt practices in the council .

This was published on the NEPC official website of the Council.

According to the publication,  the inauguration  took place in Abuja during which Dr. Yakusak said that the group is charged to develop a blueprint to curb corrupt practices which are insidious to the development of the Council as well as proffer efficient solutions.

The ED assured the Chairman of the NEPC ACTU  and his team of his support towards executing the onerous task.

In his words: “It is in light of this that I call on the reconstituted Chairman and members of the NEPC -ACTU to put all hands on deck and conduct a corruption risk assessment by identifying vulnerable areas that are prone to corruption, proffer appropriate recommendation and also develop integrity plans that would strengthen accountability and transparency towards enhanced service delivery in the Council”.

 He also mentioned that NEPC was in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)  to offer continuous training to  equip members of  NEPC ACTU with all necessary aids to champion the eradication of corruption in the Council .

In his remark, the Chairman of ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye  who was represented by a Director in ICPC, Mr Abia Udofia commended NEPC for its commitment in the fight against corruption through the setting up of ACTU. He advised Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs to be transparent in the conduct of Government business to ensure accountability in the system.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the newly NEPC ACTU, Mr Ganiyu Hamid assured that members of the Unit would live up to the responsibilities  expected from them while also  appealing  for support from members of staff of NEPC to enable the Unit succeed in its mandate.
