Members of the Ejiofor faction of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) have been sensitized on the necessity of participating in the training programmes organized by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
At the Kirikiri chapter last week, the national executives of the association gave a massive education to the members on the mandate of the CRFFN Act to regulate the freight forwarders and how to relate with the enforcement team of the council.
Speaking after the training, the factional leader, Chief Festus Ejiofor said that the essence of the training was to make the members of the association be abreast of developments in the council as well as to make them understand that the association was as strong as others registered under the CRFFN.
He stated, “Speculations has it that we have no chapter and I want people to see first hand that NCMDLCA is as solid as ever.”
“We are here to sensitive members at KLT about the CRFFN because they are coming with there fangs and anybody who is not a registered freight forwarder will be arrested and such a person will not have anywhere to practice again” he added.
He reiterated that the enlightenment of members at the KLT chapter of the association would create a better working relationship and better understanding with the CRFFN.
According to him, the meeting which saw the coming together of the national and KLT chapter executives was a fruitful one as it records a high turnout of members.
“The message to the members at KLT is for them to be strong and law-abiding, interface with Customs and they should not be involved in any shady deals because the association will not come in rescue of any of our members who is found wanting,” he warned.
Also, Chairman KLT chapter of NCMDLCA, Collins Mordi promised that members at the chapter would continue to uphold the mandate of CRFFN which in turn would bring about professionalism in freight forwarding practice in Nigeria.
Mordi stated that the enlightenment programme for KLT chapter members was well understood and that there would be total cooperation with the CRFFN officials when the enforcement started proper.
The chairman added that members at the chapter have been educated vigorously on the CRFFN rules and regulation pointing out that they will continue to be part of the CRFFN training on regular basis.
He also stated that NCMDLCA has a very robust membership at KLT noting that the association had the largest number of members at the off dock terminal.
