Following the take-off of Inland Dry Port in Kaduna, and other imminent developments in several parts of the country, the leadership of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has admonished its members to explore the new opportunities in rail freight across the nation.

The President of NAGAFF, Chief Increase Uche made this plea during the swearing-in ceremony of the new chapter executives in the Western Zone of NAGAFF on Thursday, last week.

According to the NAGAFF President, the current development in railways linking seaports to dry ports across the country is a development aimed at unbundling the maritime sector through the development of Inland Container Depots (ICDs).

He also admonished the members to maximize the enormous benefits of NAGAFF’s membership of Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), among others.

He stressed that the impromptu swearing-in ceremony was necessitated by the sudden release of the electoral timetable by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) for election into its governing board.

“The design is for the newly elected chapter executives to resume duties with the special mandate to collate all membership registrations done at every chapter in readiness for the CRFFN elections” Increase said.

However, he stressed the need for the new chapter executives to work together even as he congratulated all the contestants, electorate and the electoral commission for a peaceful election and smooth transition.

On his part, the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam encouraged members of the association to continuously display high level of professionalism in their character, dress style and intellectual capacity.

He revealed that he would be stepping aside in 2019 to allow the new leadership of NAGAFF run the affairs of the association as he believed the current crop of leaders had the capacity and integrity to take the association to greater heights.
