Lagos simplifies land documentation with online services
Surveyor General of Lagos State, Mr. Olutomi Sangowawa

The Surveyor General of Lagos State, Mr. Olutomi Sangowawa, has said that the state government is to further simplify the documentation of landed properties in the state by making the process of applying for land documents available online.

Sangowawa revealed this during the inauguration of RevolutionPlus House, the corporate head office of a private estate development outfit, RevolutionPlus Property Development Company, in Ikeja, Lagos.

He stated that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had given the necessary approval for the concerned agency to commence the complete digitisation of land documents in the state, adding that the process of processing such documents would still be within 30 days.

“The new process will hasten the process of approval of Certificates of Occupancy and that of building plans,” he said.

The Managing Director, RevolutionPlus Property Development Company, Mr. Bamidele Onasanya, in his remarks, appealed to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to initiate reforms in the housing sector so as to provide affordable housing and reduce the shortage in the country.

Onasanya said the minister should also look into the reform of the Land Use Act as well as initiate a complete overhaul of the process of assessing facilities from government mortgage institutions.

He stated that successive governments’ efforts on housing aimed at stimulating the sector to meet the housing demands of Nigerians had not yielded the desired results.
