A new Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service has been appointed. He is Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (retd), who was appointed yesterday by the President and Commander-in-Chief, Muhammadu Buahri, to replace Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdullahi, who retired voluntarily from Service a fortnight ago.
The detail of the appointment was contained in a press release signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Mr. Femi Adesina. A press release issued yesterday by the President’s Special Adviser (Media & Publicity). The appointment is to take effect immediately.
The Customs Comptroller-General, Col. Ali, was born on January 15, 1955 and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees both in Criminology. He was the Military Administrator of Kaduna State, Nigeria (August 1996 – August 1998) during the military regime of late General Sani Abacha. After leaving the Army, Col. Ali became Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a Northern lobbying group, and was a staunch supporter of Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential bid.
He was also the Chief of Staff to Buhari before Buhari’s eventual emergence as President of Nigeria.
