Ecobank restates commitment to development projects The Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, Charles Kie, has said the bank will continue to support projects that impact positively on the lives of the people and economic development of the country.

Kie stated this at the inauguration of Abia Retail Shopping Mall in Umuahia, Abia State where he was represented by the Team Lead, Medium and Local Corporates, Commercial Banking, South East, Jovita Okeahialam.

According to a statement, the bank has a deliberate policy to finance projects that stimulate development and have direct bearing on the people.

It said this was the motive behind the bank’s decision to be one of the financiers of the Abia Shoprite.

Kie said, “We find it quite fulfilling to be part of this project. This shopping mall will no doubt promote commerce, enhance peoples’ lives and, as a matter of fact, bring development to the state in general. We will continue to support such initiative on the continent.”

The Managing Director, Abia Retail Mall, Mr. Chuka Okoye, lauded Ecobank for being one of the key financials of the projects, stating that the bank’s support to developmental projects in the country and the state, in particular, was quite commendable.

He commended the support of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; the former governor, Senator Theodore Orji; Chief Sam Onuigbo and his team members for making it possible for the project to be completed.

He assured them of good quality products in the mall and urged people to patronise it.

Also speaking at the event, Ikpeazu said the mall would be a hub of opportunities for people all over the world to do business.

He urged that made-in-Abia products such as shoes and bags be displayed alongside foreign ones, saying that the products would attract more customers because of their quality.
