Ease Of Doing Business: NPA Commissions 24 Hours Port Eatery

As part of efforts to ensure compliance to the executive orders on the 24 hours ports operations and to ensure the ease of doing business at the nation’s seaports, the management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has commissioned a 24-hour port workers’ cafeteria at the premier port, the Apapa Port Complex.

Speaking during the occasion, the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman restated Management’s commitment to the success of the 24 hours operations at the Ports, adding that the decision to open the canteen was informed by the fact that eating healthy food in a healthy environment will guarantee healthy workforce which will engender higher productivity by the workforce.

The Managing Director who was represented at the ceremony by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Dr. Sekonte Davies, further noted that the canteen will further stimulate greater efficient services at the Ports by way of ensuring that the workforce are energized and made to be better alert, creative and proactive to render effective customer service delivery.

Also speaking at the event, the Port Manager, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim said Apapa port was chosen as the pilot scheme for the canteen because of its prime position among Lagos ports and that the canteen will ensure a safer environment for the Port as only certified and registered food vendors will be allowed to operate in the canteen.

She assured all stakeholders that the rates of meals in the canteen would be affordable and urged them to see themselves as partners in progress in ensuring the success of 24 hours ports operations of the Federal Government.

The representative of the General Manager, Medical, Dr. C. Nwokolo told the gathering the Medical Department had conducted a thorough examination for the food vendors, therefore Port workers have nothing to fear in terms of the Health status of the variety of meals.
