Customs Gets 34 New Comptrollers, Promotes 3,466 Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released promotion of 3,466 officers including that of 34 Comptrollers of Customs.

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) at its 54th Regular Meeting on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 approved the promotion of 3,466 General Duty (GD) and Support Staff (SS) Officers.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Chairman, NCS Board, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed who presided over the meeting highlighted the importance of discipline and engendering a work ethic based on transparency and an all-encompassing reward system.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Deputy Comptroller (DC) Timi Bomodi, the promoted Comptrollers are: SA Bomoi, AA Anthony, BO Olumo, CK Niagwan, MM Tilleygyado, MC Ugbagu, CD Wada, A Bako, AM Adegbite, KI Adesola (Mrs), NP Umoh, OO Orbih and RC Nwankwo.

A breakdown of the 3,466 Officers whose promotion has January 1, 2021 as the effective date is as follows: Deputy Comptroller to Comptroller of Customs (GD) – 31 and Deputy Comptroller to Comptroller of Customs (SS) three.

Assistant Comptroller of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs (GD), 84, Assistant Comptroller of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs (SS), has just one officer.

Chief Superintendent of Customs to Assistant Comptroller of Customs (GD), 212 while three were promoted from Chief Superintendent of Customs to Assistant Comptroller of Customs (SS).

Superintendent of Customs to Chief Superintendent of Customs (GD), 196 and Superintendent of Customs to Chief Superintendent of Customs (SS), six.

668 were promoted from Deputy Superintendent of Customs to Superintendent of Customs (GD), while Support Staff has 16 Officers.

1,258 Officers advanced from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 to Deputy Superintendent of Customs (GD), and 39 for Support Staff.

Assistant Superintendent of Customs II to Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 (GD), has 759 Officers and 48 Officers for Assistant Superintendent of Customs II to Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 (SS).

109 Officers were elevated from the rank of Inspector of Customs to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (GD), while the Support Staff of the same rank has 33 Officers.

The Minister commended NCS Management for breaking new grounds in trade facilitation and revenue generation in the year 2021.

She urged the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts in achieving the goals of the Service in the current year.
