Five Star Logistics Limited has supported the fight against coronavirus at the seaports with hand sanitizers and facemasks worth N20million, even as it donated another N75million to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

While the sum of seventy-five million naira was given to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Private Sector Coalition against COVID 19, the company presented the hand sanitizers and face masks worth N20million to the Tin Can Port Complex of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) today.

While making the presentation, the General Manager, Comet Shipping Agencies, Mr. Rigo Nazarri said that the gesture was part of the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and in line with the government’s effort to rid the nation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This donation of 1200 packs of hand sanitizers and 1600 packs of face masks worth N20million is our contribution to the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria,” Nazarri said.

The Port Manager, Tin Can Island Port, Mr. Abubakar Garba Umar, who received the items on behalf of the NPA management, expressed appreciation and commended Five Star Logistics for the donation, which he said would go a long way in supporting NPA and the Federal Government’s effort in the fight against coronavirus disease at the nation’s seaports.

“We thank you for your collaboration with us and for sharing in the Federal Government’s commitment in fighting COVID-19. The items donated are relevant to the fight against COVID-19, especially for port officials and stakeholders like truck drivers,” Umar said.

He reiterated the need to adhere to established protocols such as regular hand washing and social distancing, even as he expressed optimism that the nation would successfully manage the situation in the nearest future.

In a related development, sister companies of Five Star Logistics Limited; Comet Shipping Agencies Limited and Tarabaroz Fisheries Limited have donated N5million and N500,000 respectively to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to support the government’s efforts to eradicate COVID-19.

Cumulatively, companies under the aegis of Comet Shipping Group have contributed over N100million to tackle the pandemic in Nigeria.
