The Federal Government began the distribution of free meter in Kano, Kaduna and Lagos in fulfilment of the promise of the President Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure mass metering in the country and in the process put an end to the menace of estimated billing in the electricity sector.
While the level of success in terms of the distribution is yet to be determined, this flash evokes memories of ‘UP NEPA’, the shouts heard in the streets when power supply comes on.
Up NEPA is a congratulatory shout to commend the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) for power supply.
The challenge, however, is that we don’t know how long this power supply/ free meter distribution would last.
