Several Managing Directors of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) nurtured the monopoly of the INTELS on the issue of specialized terminals but the current Managing Director of NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman has taken a firm stand on the issue recently with her directive that every terminal in the port is free to receive any cargo if they have the technical competence to handle it.
The previous Managing Directors had been too scared to speak on this issue out of fear of victimization as it requires a lot of courage to tackle certain issues in the port without minding whose ox is gored. However, Hadiza continues to display admirable traits of a unique female capricorn.
As Margaret Thatcher rightly puts it, “if you want something said, ask a man, but if you want something done ask a woman”
Since, Hadiza has become notable for taking daring decisions, we can say, “if you want a firm stand on issues affecting the port, simply ‘Hadiza It!”
