The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) seems to lack the necessary investigative skills to handle the bout of illegal arms shipment into the country. The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Hameed Ali in defense of this criticism against the Customs has said the service wouldn’t allow the arms to leave the ports and follow it up to its destination because if the arms are intercepted by men of Nigerian Police Force (NPF), “it would be an entirely different story”. The CGC who is always fond of reminding the public of an existing Inter-Agency collaboration, pulled a hard one at this point.
The question that comes to mind is; where is the Inter-Agency collaboration? What could be this entirely different story that Ali was scared of? The quick take home here is that security outfits are fishing for credits and glory at the detriment of national security.
