Recently, activities of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri was in disarray as resident started out a fire in a bush close to the airport. Although, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) advised the communities and residents around airport facilities to desist from burning bushes in and around the aerodrome after the occurrence of the incident, such incident could have been prevented if the citizens were properly sensitized on the dos and don’t around the airport. This fire outbreak could have disrupted flight operations if there was no timely intervention. FAAN needs to buckle up in areas like this.
