ANLCA Begins Health Sensitization To Curb Members Death.By Oyeniyi Iwakun

As parts of its initiatives to improve members welfare,  physical and mental abilities and overall health management, the Women in Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has held the first monthly a Health Talk   aimed at educating members on stress management and other health related issues.

The President, Association of Medical  Officers of Health in Nigeria (AMOHN), Dr. Yahaya Oyewoga Disu, while delivering his keynote address at the event tagged “Stress Management” in Lagos on Thursday, 27th July, 2017,described stress as an integral part of human existence as it is experienced from birth. “stress is a daily activity that starts from when we were born, the time we went to school, anxiety of being fagged by teachers, jobs search, at work and marriage and even when raising children.”

Aside identifying high demand on jobs, poor policies, bad conditions of work, family activities, poor support system distrust and many more as causes of stress, Dr. Disu also advised that in order to ameliorate the health challenges posed by stress, “we need to trust people and delegate responsibilities, avoid conflict, change policies, seek regular medical check ups, do exercises and worry less about challenges  so that stress will reduced”.

The President of Women in ANLCA, Hajia Bola Muse while fielding questions from MMS Plus Newspaper reporter at the programme said the innovation was put up to address challenges emanating from the observed stress and hectic demands of the clearing and forwarding business coupled with other family pressures which has led to the death of so many members of ANLCA because they hardly had time for exercises, medical attentions and adequate rest.

She however called on all members to embrace the initiative which is designed to come up consistently on monthly basis in order to keep members fit and healthy because “health they say is wealth”.

In his closing remark, the ANLCA chairman Biometric project and members Directory, Alhaji Abdulaziz Mukaila Babtunde, described the project as “the best” that has happened to the union in recent times.
“the rate at which we loose members is alarming and what we did was to get insurance so that any member who drops dead will have N1 million paid to his family”. He stated.

Mr Mukaila appreciated Hajia Muse for the initiative as he called on all members to support and take advantage of the God’s sent solution.

“we thank God for using the Women in ANLCA president to rescue us. I think it’s better to save our members than to let them drop dead and get N1 million “.Mr. Mukaila said.
