A master of ceremonies (also known as an MC or emcee) is the official host for a staged event, performance, or party. MCs introduce speakers, make announcements, and engage with the audience to keep the ceremony agenda flowing as smoothly as possible. The MC should exemplify order and lead the audience on times to applaud, be quiet, listen and respond.
At the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the MC displayed some of the traits above; however, he also caused a great deal of distraction as he chatted with friends in the auditorium loudly while some speakers were presenting their papers.
It was embarrassing as guests were unable to concentrate and the MC who should have created a conducive environment, was responsible for the disturbance.
