The Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service is currently fine tuning plans towards further tightening their operational noose, towards ensuring a bleak Christmas season for smugglers operating in the area.

The Customs Public Relations Officer, (CPRO), Mr. Ernest Olottah disclosed this on last week, noting that the command’s anti-crime effort resulted in 76 seizures, with a Duty Paid Value of N18.1 million in the month of August alone.

Speaking on behalf of the Seme Customs Area Controller, Willy Egbudin, the Customs Public Relation Officer (CPRO) said the CAC had developed a blue print, two steps ahead of whatever the smugglers may be considering.

He pointed out that the command in the month of August, netted in over N781, 797, 557 on behalf of the Federal Government.

The PRO disclosed,” The seizures include rice, vehicles, narcotics, frozen poultry etc”

“Certainly, towards the yuletide season like this, we always intensify our anti- smuggling activities. Only that this year, the CAC is taking proactive steps that would leave no breathing space for those engaging themselves in illicit trade” he stated further
