The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), MMS Woman of Fortune, Hall of Fame (WOFHoF) Initiative, Barrister Margaret Orakwusi has charged the federal government to embark on aggressive search and  rescue of the only remaining female student of Government Girls College, Dapchi, Yobe State left in the custody of Boko Haram Insurgents.

Leah Sharibu, is the only remaining hostage of Boko Haram terror group attack, in February, when they kidnapped Leah and 109 other girls as
well as one boy from Government Secondary Girls, Daphi, Yobe State.

Mrs. Orakwusi made this call while speaking to journalists during the WoFHoF Hall of Farmers Day and Charity night which held on Thursday last week, to mark the celebration of United Nations International Womens’ Day in Lagos.

The renowned lawyer and maritime big wig who frowned at the sudden silence of activists and other stakeholders at the abysmal action of the abductors that decided to hold the young girl back in detention while others were returned home safely, charged the government to do everything possible to ensure the safe release of the young girl.

“My joy would have been full if all the girls have returned. I think all of us should just rise up and demand the return of that girl. It goes beyond individual. It is what we all believed in. I don’t see why noise is not being made on this.

“I will be fully glad if everybody is returned and If nobody is discriminated against. It is just a thing of the mind. I choose to serve my God the way I want so what is the crime in it?

“She is an angel, if at that age she could stand with what she believes in, I think she should be commended for her rare bravery.” she said.

Mrs. Orakwusi also urged women to come together and unite themselves more than ever before in order to take active part in political activities and decision making process in Nigeria.

While describing women as the mother of the country that want the best for their children, Orakwusi canvassed for women involvement in elective positions into leadership by contesting.

She posited that if it takes full participation of women to transform the country for better, then women should be encouraged and taught how to do so, arguing that leaving governance in the hands of the regular people in charge; greed, poverty, Corruption and others would persist.

“I don’t know what it is but you will find out that women work against women. We need all that to change. We need women to work for women. We share a lot of things in common. We are mothers, we are wise and we make best decisions.

“while a man keeps acquiring, women are more concerned about the welfare of their children. There are people in this country who own more than 40 houses, yet they cannot account for the sources of their wealth. This is not the kind of country I want for my children.

“I want women to come on board and show that 3 meals a day is enough for one person. So that people will realize that they can only sleep on one bed. So we need to come together and build a nation that we are proud of.” she concluded.
