Nigeria has again lost its bid to make the Category C of the International Maritime Organisation(IMO) Council in the just concluded Council election which took place on Friday in London.Nigeria with 98 votes and Algeria, 94 votes were the two African countries that lost the election. Among the losers are Saudi Arabia with 105 votes and Antigua and Barbuda,103 votes.
However, 20 countries made it to the category C Council seat with five African countries emerging successful. Among them are: Morocco, 134 ; Egypt, 133 votes; South Africa, 121; Kenya 120; Liberia 116. Singapore led the 20 countries with 142 votes to beat others.
MMS Plus gathered that Nigeria attended the 2017 IMO biannual General Assembly with 36 delegations led by the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
