As part of efforts to ease trade procedures at the Lagos Airport, the Nigerian Association of Air Freight Forwarders & Consolidators (NAFFAC) pledged support to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to ease cargo clearance and customs procedures.

The freight forwarding group made this assurance today, when the President General, Prince Adeyinka Bakare led an executive delegation for a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller (CAC) at the Airport Customs Command (CAC), Airport Command, Mrs. Jayne Shoboiki

“The essence of the courtesy visit is to familiarize with the Airport Customs; especially to introduce the new executives of the association both at the Airport Chapter level as well as the national executives to the Customs Area Controller at the Airport. She is also new on that position because she was transferred there barely three months ago” Bakare said.

Meanwhile the Customs boss appreciated the visit and commended the association and its leadership for the high standards it has maintained in the profession.

Shoboiki stressed that as long as the freight forwarders continued to go about their businesses with high sense of dignity, integrity and national interest, she would continue to support and partner with the freight forwarding group.

Speaking to MMS Plus newspaper shortly after the meeting, Bakare said; “We assured the CAC that the members of the association wouldn’t let her down and stressed that we have always cooperated with the CAC’s and management teams of the previous administrations.”

“NAFFAC has always been known as an association that distinguishes itself with professional conduct, decency and integrity. While it is expected that she would come up with some strategies to move the association forward, NAFFAC is ready to support her and ensure those noble objectives are met”, he added.

The NAFFAC delegation included bigwigs such as the Former President of NAFFAC, Mr. Chukwuka Agubamah, the Secretary General of the association, Alade Shabi, other national executives as well as the Murtala Mohammed International Airport chapter executives.

Bakare, who is also a member of the Governing Council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), expressed delight that the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has called for a meeting with the board members.

The meeting which is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, next week is expected to lead to the formal inauguration of the CRFFN Governing Council, almost three months after the members of the Council emerged via a peaceful election.
