MMS Hall Of Fame To Mark International Women’s Day, Empower 250,000 Women

As part of activities to mark the 2019 United Nation’s International Women’s Day (IWD), MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative  is set to organize MMS Hall Of Famers’ Day on the theme;“Innovating  Passion For Sustainable Living: A Night Of Empowerment & Testimonials.”

According to the organizers, the event which holds on March 19th, 2019 is in tandem with the global IWD theme ‘Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate For Change.’

The programme  scheduled to start by 4pm at Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos will be chaired by the President, Women Arise Initiative, Dr. Joe Odumakin, while the Chief Host is Barr. Mrs. Margaret Orakwusi, Chairperson, Nigerian Ship owners’ Forum. The Managing Director of Le Look Bags, Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa  is co-chief host ,as  former Minister of Transport, Amb. Dr. Kema Chikwe is the chief guest of honour.

According to the organizers of the event, IWD  serves  as a clarion call to action for accelerating the gender parity and a time to reflect and focus on innovative ways to empower women particularly in the areas of social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure.

Speaking on the upcoming event, the Executive Secretary of MMS WoFHoF Initiative, Mrs. Chioma Nwagbo said; “This year’s  event is preceded by  a Press Conference   and  a public procession tagged,Walk Woman,Think Smart  on the 7th of March  to express  gender consciousness.

She also stated that the event is in sync with the 2019 International Maritime Organization (IMO) World Maritime Day(WMD) with the  theme: “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community” As such, some maritime amazons have been singled out for recognition.

She called on maritime professionals and noble organizations to deepen their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) impact by partnering with MMS WoFHoF Initiative in its bid to execute the vision 5W-250,000, which is to empower 250,000 women in five years.

As part of the efforts to create awareness about the programme and reemphasize the place of women in the society, one of the MMS Hall of Famers, Hajia Bola Muse, President, Women in Maritime Africa(WIMAfrica) Nigeria  as  a tradition is scheduled to join other women to  hold the press conference at the MMS International Image Centre in Festac, Lagos on Thursday March 7thafter  the ‘Women’s Walk’ would have been observed earlier.

MMS WoFHoF is a non -profit organization with the preoccupation of empowering, training, and producing the next generation of leaders in the maritime, oil and gas, finance, aviation as well as political leadership sectors.
