The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Lagos has generated a revenue sum of N3.79 Billion and intercepted various contrabands, sub-standard products and falsely declared goods in the first half of 2017.

The Customs Area Controller of the KLT command, Comptroller Wushishi Lami made this known during a press briefing on the command’s activities in the first half of the year on Friday, 22 July, 2017 in Lagos.“In a bid to actualize the set revenue target of the service, the KLT command has generated revenue which is to the sum of N 7.392,424,266.00 in the past six months”

Comparatively, the revenue generated represents 253.3% increase over the. corresponding period of January to June 2016 which stood at N2.092, 671,108.00, Compt. Lami noted.

The Area Controller also reported that the command’s anti-smuggling battles had yielded results as it seized container from China loaded with Fire Resistant cables “printed on its packaging SUPER KENDRASMAT NIG WIRE AND CABLE” but falsely declared as regulator. Aside this, some intercepted pharmaceutical products were handed over to National Agency for Food Drug Control and Administration (NAFDAC) for proper disposal recently.

While assuring of her continuous interagency cooperation in law enforcement and trade promotions, Mrs. Lami enjoined importers and other stakeholders at the ports to ensure truthfulness and strict compliance to laws.
