The Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) TinCan Island Chapter Azubuike Ekweozor has lauded the management of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS). TinCan Island for their unprecedented achievement in revenue collections at the command in 2014.

Ekweozor said the good relationship between the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command and the clearing agents gave rise to the achievement.

According to him “As long as I am concerned I know that NAGAFF TinCan Island Port and Customs in TinCan have a very cordial relationship. Between NAGAFF and TinCan Customs, we don’t have problems, we understand ourselves, we address our differences amicably, and things are going perfectly well, no lapses”.

He further advised his fellow agents that if they should endeavour to make accurate declaration and proper documentation of their cargoes they will never be disturbed or harassed by customs because the Customs are not out to witch hunt anybody especially in 2015.

He later warned that “if you are out to cheat the government, they will not take it lightly with you because they are protecting their image, and the heat will face you from above if there is a hitch to their revenue status”.

He further added that NAGAFF is going out of its way to sensitize and educate its members through seminars, and workshops to keep them up to date with the current trade in the industry so that they would not encounter much problem in carrying out their business.

Ekweozor maintained that their achievement was as a result of the close relationship they had with NCS and congratulated the comptroller General of Customs for coming out with polices and schemes that benefitted them so much.
