The lingering crisis rocking the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), has led to the birthed a new group, which emerged, from nine chapters under the Western Zone of the association.
The new faction, headed by its Western Zonal Coordinator, Sir John Oforbike, has therefore refused to recognise the factional president, Tony Nwabunike as its national leader.
The group attributed their pulling out on the inability of the Nwabunike-led group to resolve the crisis rocking the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association.
The group announced its decision in a statement signed by the Zonal Coordinator West of ANLCA, John Oforbike, and the Secretary, Bayo Oyekagun. It was also endorsed by all the chapters in the western zone namely; Apapa port, Tin Can Island, Muritala Muhammed Airport, Seme border, Idiroko, , Kirikiri Lighter Terminal and PTML chapter.
They resolved that they would no longer participate in any activity in ANLCA called by Nwabunike.
The faction also resolved henceforth to recognise Emenike Nwokeoji as the President of ANLCA.
Emenike contested elections against Nwabunike in March 2018 at Enugu State and lost by three votes.
It would be recalled that after the elections that brought Nwabunike into power in March, the ANLCA BOT was thrown into a leadership crisis with two members, Henry Njokwu. and Taiwo Mustapha, laying claim to the position.
The nine chapters in the Western Zone have however declared support for the Taiwo Mustapha led faction of ANLCA. Mustapha repeatedly defeated Henry Njokwu by three votes to clinch the position of chairmanship of the board at an election held in April 2018.
ANLCA National President, Tony Iju Nwabunike, had earlier declared support for the Njokwu-led faction of the ANLCA.
