As the end-date of the ongoing Amnesty Programme for former militants and youths in the Niger-delta draws near, not a few people are apprehensive that “the boys” would have no option but to return to the creeks.
But it would seem that the bug of common sense had bitten them as, rather than take up arms, they are towing the path of peace by seeking legal means of preventing government from “putting sand in their garri.”
For this sane approach, perhaps the Niger-Delta youths under the aegis of Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC), have indeed realized that it is better to embrace the wind of change.
