Nigerian Policemen have become notable for indiscipline, however, it is pertinent to
commend the few who retain high sense of responsibility and professionalism.
The new Ports Authority Commissioner Of Police (CP) Mr. Celestine Okoye initially displayed such rare sense of responsibility by moving his office from the comfort in
Marina to the rigours of Apapa just to be on ground to witness events as they
unfold at the ports. This is expected to yield yield results in no distant time especially to stop the extortion of truckers by Police officers.
Again, unlike some police bosses and other Chief Executive Officers (CEO) who claim to be busy just to shy away from their duties, Okoye returns his calls as soon as possible. A trait MMS Plus observed when our correspondent called to get his reaction on the illicit extortion by Policemen at the Lagos Port gates. These are laudable qualities every Police officer should emulate.
