This week Monday, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Public Relations team wrongfully informed the press that the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika would have a media parley with Aviation journalists at 12noon. Most of the journalists were there before noon, and waited for hours before information emerged that Sirika was in Enugu for an inspection tour of the Enugu airport and would proceed from there to Benin Airport after which he will come to the Lagos airport. The journalists kept waiting from 12noon till about 8:45 pm for a brief presentation following a letter from the US Federal Aviation Administration regarding the passing of the Category one status by Nigeria after which the press were dismissed for the minister to have a meeting with the minister.
The issue here is that the NCAA media team provided wrong information for what was supposed to be to be an inhouse meeting with Sirika. It was gathered that Sirika was not informed that the press were invited and were waiting from 12noon till 8:45 pm. This is a very wrong approach and it would not be the first time the NCAA has done that. This is mumu Public Relations!
