His unsurprising reinstatement to the civil service and promotion despite absconding from his duty post since 2013 has added more colour to the blossoming image of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, and his anti-corruption war.
Maina insists that he was innocent- Why did Maina continue to claim innocence from his hideout? Wasn’t it this same Maina who fled the country because of the weight of evidence of wrongdoing found against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)?
Some say the ‘Maina’ saga is said put a big question mark on Buhari’s integrity; I’d rather believe Nigeria is a place where the norm is absurdity and Maina’s magical reinstatement is one of the mysteries we would continue to live with.
