ANLCA To Obtain Court Injunction To Stop CRFFN Elections

Following the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) release of its  timetable for the election of practitioners into its governing council, the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) is set to obtain a court injunction to stop the elections.

According to our source, ANLCA held an emergency National Executive Committee Members (NECOM) meeting last week where the executives agreed to obtain court injunction preventing CRFFN from going on with its planned elections into the governing board.

Although, as the pioneer Chairman of the CRFFN board, the emergence of Tony Iju as President of ANLCA was tipped to see the association resolve its fracas with CRFFN, there are indications that the new ANLCA boss would follow the footsteps of his predecessor, Prince Olayiwola Shittu.

When contacted on this issue, the National Publicity Secretary of ANLCA, Mr. Joe Sanni stated that ANLCA had no plans to obtain court injunction over CRFFN elections.

Recall that since the tenure of the last governing council members expired in 2012, the Council had been without a governing council leading to the inability of the Council to carry out any meaningful activity in the last six years.

President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this year announced appointment of six members into the council but according to the Act establishing the Council, a Chairman will be elected when an election is held for the freight forwarding practitioners among whom a Chairman will be elected.

The appointment of the six members was later explained as a geographical representation of the six geo-political zones in the country.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has swiftly organized a swearing-in ceremony for the new chapter executives in the Western Zone as part of efforts to prepare for the CRFFN elections.
