AIB Commences Investigation On Bristow Helicopter’s Incident

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has commenced investigation following the serious incident involving a Sikorsky 92 aircraft operated by Bristow Helicopters, with registration marks, 5N-BOA .

This was made known in a statement released by the spokesperson of the Bureau, Mr Tunji Oketunbi.

According the statement, the aircraft with 13 passengers on board was enroute Port Harcourt from GERD when it declared emergency adding that there was no fatality.

Oketunbi also revealed that the pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control declaring left engine failure stressing that the aircraft was cleared left Base Runway 22 for expeditious landing and landed safely.

Meanwhile, the Bureau disclosed that its safety investigators from its regional office in Enugu have commenced investigation.

AIB also urged the public to provide any video clip, relevant evidence or information that would assist with the investigation.
